Becoming a Foster Parent
At the Child Guidance Foster Family Agency, our caring and
devoted staff will assist you in completing the following list
of requirements for becoming a foster parent. To make the
process as simple as possible, all training is performed at one
location with the exception of the background check and the
CPR/First Aid Training.
REQUIREMENTS:
Possess a
valid CA ID or Driver's License with a DMV print out on file
Pass a background check (Dept. of Justice, FBI, and Child
Abuse Index)
Have sufficient income (can included social security or other
forms of assistance)
Pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test and general health clearance
Be CPR and First Aid Certified
Have completed the pre-certification training course
Pass home evaluation and meet the State of California Foster
home safety requirements.
At the Child Guidance Foster Family Agency, we walk you through
the entire process at your own pace, giving incentives for
completing the each of 4 steps. We aim to assist you in
completing the certification process in two months while making
it as simple and effective as possible. The certification
process is designed to cater to your individual and family
needs.
